Cindy Seymour has been a biology teacher at Craven Community College for a number of years. She’s originally from Craven County and earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Science Education from ECU. Her most recent success has been implementing the College’s “Green Team”, recycling initiative; facing resistance and skepticism of the potential successful impact of program. Cindy focuses on the everyday small steps we can take to make our world a cleaner place for generations to come. Her ideas make one realize we truly can and do make a difference.

Our first meeting for 2012 was a huge success. Thanks to Angelina Hardy from New Bern Civic Theatre for a very fun presentation and great prizes. New Bern Civic theatre has a great line-up of upcoming shows. More information is available on-line at www.newberncivictheatre.org and on their Facebook page. And thanks to Leigh Wilkinson with Ward and Smith, PA who provided dessert for everyone.

Queen Anne’s Revenge

The guest speaker will be Mark U. Wilde-Ramsing, PhD. Mark has been a staff archaeologist with the North Carolina Division of Archives and History/Underwater Archaeology Branch since 1978. He was appointed project director of one of the most significant and exciting underwater discoveries in recent timesthe Queen Anne’s Revenge shipwreck,the 1718 flagship of the famed pirate Blackbeard. He will present a program entitled “Discovery of Blackbeard’s Queen Anne’s Revenge.
